Julian MARCOUX

2020/2021: First year student in the graduate program

"Following my preparatory classes in economics and mathematics, my student profil was rather quantitative. When entering the ENS de Lyon, I wanted to capitalize on this strength. I therefore logically chose to continue with economics.

The tacit knowledge taught by the teacher of the Department of Economics is comprehensive. In addition, it is quickly transformed into explicit knowledge through internship and individualized tutoring. For example, I recently had the chance to do an internship at the central bank of France, La Banque de France, under the supervision of the second deputy governor. Also, there is a possibility to partake in the life of the Department. Following my literature review on the economic determinants of deforestation, I have been offered to assist one of the Department's professors in his research. The experience of conducting a research project with an experienced economist is an asset in my academic portfolio. It will undoubtedly enable me to carry out my future PhD thesis in the best possible conditions."
